The recent discussions regarding who is going to be taking over as the captain of the Indian Test Team. As the England tour is just in the vicinity, Indian selectors are going to announce the Indian side in the coming days and with that will be announcing the captain of the red-ball format. It is being reported that Shubman Gill is currently leading the race for test captaincy but there are still discussions going around Jasprit Bumrah’s name as he was the captain of the team in the last match that they played.
While the selectors are yet to make any decision, the erstwhile selection committee of MSK Prasad, Devang Gandhi, Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda have named the squad that they would be sending to England, as reported by PTI.
One of the key takeaways from their chat is that all four of them have surprisingly agreed that they cannot look past Jasprit Bumrah as the captain of the test side. They think that Gill can be the vice captain for now and gain more experience alongside Bumrah.
Another thing which bewildered them was the discussion around Mohammed Shami’s name, as they think there shouldn’t be any talks on whether he should play or not. If he is healthy, the right arm pacer should definitely be part of the squad in England.
