Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly asking questions to the External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar about the center informing Pakistan at the start of Operation Sindoor. The senior Congress leader had raised questions on Jaishankar’s comments earlier asking him the reasons for informing Pakistan’s government of the Indian strikes on base camps of terrorists across the border.
Gandhi doubled-down on his comments and said that informing the Pakistani military of the attacks was not just a lapse in judgement but a crime. He asked why the Ministry of External Affairs is silent and why has S. Jaishankar not replied to his questions.
Rahul Gandhi posted on X, saying, “EAM Jaishankar’s silence isn’t just telling — it’s damning. So, I’ll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn’t a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party in response has questioned the intent of the opposition leader. They have raised question about the timing of these sudden charges against the government in such difficult times for the nation. They explained further, that Gandhi has misinterpreted the comments of Mr. Jaishankar and his questions “reeks of malafide intent.”
Rahul Gandhi, earlier, shared a video of S. Jaishankar in which the Minister said to the media, “At the start of the operation, we have sent a message to Pakistan, saying we are striking at infrastructure and we are not striking at the military, so the military has an option of standing out and not interfering in this process. They chose not to take good advice.”
Gandhi questioned this tactic and called it a crime. He asked who authorised this and what were the repercussions of that. He also asked how many aircrafts did the air force lose because of this decision. Another Congress leader, Pawan Khera has backed Gandhi and raised major questions. He stated, “This is not diplomacy, this is espionage. Everyone heard what the External Affairs Minister said. A cover-up is being done. This statement suggests that the terrorists must have fled their bases. Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi and External Affairs Minister must answer why this was done.”
The External Affairs Ministry has come out and responded to the comments saying, “EAM had stated that we had warned Pakistan at the start, which is clearly the early phase after Op Sindoor’s commencement. This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out.”
