In a major announcement that has sent waves through the Indian film industry, acclaimed actor Jr NTR has been confirmed to play the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming biopic, “Made in India.” The film aims to chronicle the life and legacy of Phalke, widely regarded as the “Father of Indian Cinema.”

According to multiple reports, Jr NTR, who rose to international fame with his role in Rajamouli’s blockbuster “RRR,” will take on the challenging role of Phalke. The project, produced by Rajamouli and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nitin Kakkar, is expected to be one of the most ambitious biopics in Indian cinema.

Dadasaheb Phalke, whose pioneering work began with the 1913 silent film “Raja Harishchandra,” laid the foundation for what would become one of the world’s largest film industries. The biopic aims to capture his struggles, innovations, and the indelible mark he left on Indian culture.

Sources close to the production reveal that the film will be shot in multiple languages, including Hindi and Telugu, to reach a pan-Indian audience. The makers are reportedly investing heavily in authentic period sets and costumes to recreate the early 20th century.

Jr NTR’s casting has been met with widespread excitement. Fans and critics alike are eager to see how the versatile actor will embody the iconic filmmaker. “This is a dream role for any actor. Dadasaheb Phalke’s story is the story of Indian cinema itself,” said a spokesperson for the production.

“Made in India” is expected to go on floors later this year, with a tentative release date set for 2026. The film’s announcement comes at a time when biopics are enjoying immense popularity, and expectations are high for Rajamouli and Jr NTR to deliver another cinematic milestone.
