Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday at 8 PM, for the first time since the tensions with Pakistan escalated. PM Modi in his message to the nation highlighted Operation Sindoor gave a befitting reply to the terrorists residing in the neighboring country and their government.

The Prime Minister talked about how the terror attacks had shaken him to the core and the barbaric display of inhumane violence by the terrorists and asked for a fitting reply. Modi stated that he gave full freedom to the Indian military and they have shown terrorists what India can do.

“The merciless killing of innocent citizens in front of their family and their children on the basis of their religion was a very gruesome face of terror and cruelty. We gave full freedom to the Indian forces to wipe out the terrorists. And today every terrorist, every terror organisation knows the consequence of wiping out the Sindoor of our sisters and daughters,” The PM said.

Modi also thanked and praised the Indian military forces and the intelligence agencies who negated all the Pakistani attacks during the tough times. Indian defence systems were the key factors in India not suffering any major casualty by the drone and missile attacks.

The PM stated, “First of all, on behalf of the people of India, I salute the valiant forces of India, the armed forces, our intelligence agencies, and our scientists. Our brave soldiers displayed immense courage to achieve the objectives of Operation Sindoor. I pay tribute to their bravery, courage and valour.”

He also emphasized that India is not going to tolerate any kind of blackmailing on the grounds of nuclear weapons from the bordering country. He also specified that this is not the era of war in India but this will also not be an era of terrorism.

He said, “If there is a terrorist attack on India, a fitting reply will be given. We will give a befitting response on our terms only. We will take strict action at every place from where the roots of terrorism emerge. India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail.”

Modi also said that Pakistan is on a self-destructive path with the way its government and military are encouraging terrorism. PM Modi also made India’s stance clear that, “Terror and talks cannot go together… Terror and trade cannot go together…. Water and blood cannot flow together.”

With that being said, Modi also told the world that India will not be in talking terms with Pakistan. He said, “If there are talks with Pakistan, it will be only on terrorism; and if there are talks with Pakistan, it will be only on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).”

India’s Operation Sindoor was carried out in retaliation to the gruesome terrorist attack on Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. India lost 26 innocent lives that day as terrorists shot the tourists point blank in front of their families. The Indian Army retaliated by attacking nine base camps of terrorists located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
