Virat Kohli’s retirement has left every cricket fan’s heart-broken as their favorite player has ended his red-ball career. Everyone who is connected to the star player has reacted to the news of his retirement but the most emotional post that came out was from his wife, the Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma.
Anushka posted a photo of them together on the field after the famous victory in Australia where the couple can be seen ecstatic and smiling from ear to ear. With the beautiful photo, she talked about the struggles that Kohli faced behind the curtains and the love that the cricketer had for the oldest format of the game.
Anushka wrote in the caption, “They’ll talk about the records and the milestones – but I’ll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game. I know how much all this took from you. After every Test series, you came back a little wiser, a little humbler – and watching you evolve through it all has been a privilege.”
She also stated that she didn’t expect him to retire from the test format and always thought he would retire last from this format. She also wrote that she knew that Virat always followed his heart and he deserve every bit of this goodbye.
“Somehow, I always imagined you’d retire from International cricket in whites – But you’ve always followed your heart, and so I just want to say my love, you’ve earned every bit of this goodbye,” she added.
There were reports that suggested BCCI asked him to rethink his decision. But Virat stuck to his decision and called it a day to his illustrious career. Kohli is arguably the greatest Test captain India ever had with the most wins in the format for the country. Kohli changed the way India played test matches and showed a more fearless side of India to the cricketing world. The star cricketer ended his career with 9270 runs at an average of 46.85 in 123 games with 30 centuries in the format.
