The world leaders are trying to de-escalate the rising tensions between the two bordering nations India and Pakistan. The world knows that both these nations possess nuclear power and the world can’t afford a war between them.
First the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump took to his social media and informed the world that India and Pakistan have come to an agreement of a ceasefire and the conversation which was mediated by the United States. Now, the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi has also made an effort from his end and has had a phone conversation with National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval and has urged both the nations Pakistan and India to stay calm and maintain peace.
In the telephonic conversation Doval informed the Chinese Foreign Minister that in the terror attacks in Pahalgam there were innocent lives taken away so the Indian government had to take the counter-terrorism actions. Doval also emphasized on the fact that War was not India’s choice but India had to take action after the attacks from across the border.
Wang Yi also addressed the fact that China condemns the horrific attack by the terrorists on innocent tourists that were present in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Yi has also said China opposes terrorism in all sorts but both nations should also prioritize peace as peace in the Asian subcontinent is hard-won and must be cherished.
It was also reported that China appreciates India’s stance that War is not it’s choice and expects that both the neighbouring countries will handle and settle their differences through dialogue and consultation, avoiding any further escalation.
The tensions between the two nations are still surging high as India says that Pakistan has breached their trust after violating ceasefire just two hours after the agreement was made. Although the ceasefire was restored later in the night, India can’t just turn a blind eye to the breach of trust.
