Gul Panag has been in the talks recently with her savage and witty tweet in which she took a jab at Pakistan after they secured a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Indian actress took a jibe at Pakistan after their loan of 1 Billion dollars was approved by the IMF amid the cross-border conflicts going on with India.
Panag’s tweet was a reply to a journalist who was celebrating the approval of the loan. The actress gave him a savage reply reminding him of the vast difference between the economic prowess of both neighbouring countries and showing him how much India had grown over the years.
The Pakistani journalist, Shahbaz Rana, after securing the loan, wrote, “In a humiliating defeat for India, The IMF executive board has approved $1 billion second loan tranche. India unsuccessfully tried to block the approval by the IMF board.” This was an effort by Rana to celebrate Pakistan’s success and mock Indians but Panag gave the journalist a taste of his own medicine.
In a sarcastic tone, Panag replied saying, “Sir, congratulations on another loan. With respect, we don’t need that money. You do.” The reply was a befitting response to the pompous comments made by the journalist but the actress wasn’t done yet and wrote, “FYI (For Your Information), We have not taken any financial assistance from the IMF since 1993. Repayments of all the loans taken from the International Monetary Fund have been completed on 31 May, 2000.”
According to the IMF the loan was approved after a thorough review of the Economic Reform Program by Pakistan which the IMF deemed needed an aid of 1 billion dollars. India however strongly refuted the approval of this loan highlighting Pakistan’s involvement in breeding terrorists and helping them spread terrorism across the border.
