Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic Gold medallist, has shown his support to the Indian military forces after their successful Operation Sindoor. The track and field star was wrongfully criticized ever since the terror attack in Pahalgam but that hasn’t stopped him from being a true nationalist and supporting his country.
Chopra took to his X handle and wrote, “We are proud of our Brave Indian Armed Forces who are fighting for our nation against Terrorism. Let’s do our part and make sure to follow guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety during this time. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat, Jai Army.”
The two-time Olympic medallist was being unfairly criticized ever since horrific terror attacks on the tourists in Pahalgam. The attacks were one of the most gruesome displays of violence as the terrorists attacked the tourists and shot them from point blank in front of their families. Neeraj who had invited Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani track and field athlete and the 2024 Olympic gold medallist, to train with him in India and participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classics, faced criticism for sending the invite to Pakistani athlete.
Chopra after the Pahalgam attack had gone on his social media as well to address the hate he was receiving and clarified that his invitation to Nadeem was purely from “an athlete to another athlete – nothing more and nothing less.” He also stated that after the attacks Nadeem’s participation in the NC Classics is totally out of question as for him his country and its interests come first over anything.
Neeraj also pointed out how disappointed and hurt he was when his integrity was questioned after all that he had done for his country. He wrote, “It pains me that I have to explain myself to people who are targeting me and my family with no good reason. We are simple people, please don’t make us out to be anything else. There are so many false narratives that certain sections of the media have created around me, but just because I do not speak up, it doesn’t make it true.”
Chopra is now all set to participate at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 athletic meet, a tournament that he’s been sighting for a long while now. The field and track star was supposed to participate in the tournament in 2023 and 2024 but had to pull out due to injuries.
