On Thursday, 8th May 2025, the Defense stocks saw a rise following Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian military forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Some of the Defense stocks saw a slight jump in their share price while the Nifty Defense index also saw a significant rise in prices as well.
The Defense stocks like Bharat Dynamics, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers have had a significant rise in prices in Thursday’s session. Bharat Dynamics led the way seeing a 3 percent rise in stock prices, ending the day at ₹1,492.90. The Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders’ shares rose 1.82 percent and the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers took a leap of 2 percent by the end of the day. The Cochin Shipyard as well as the Hindustan Aeronautics showed a slight bump in the shares as well ending the day at a hike of 1.43 percent and 0.64 percent each respectively.
This surge came as a relief after the Defense stocks experienced a hiccup on the previous day falling up to 6 percent. The Nifty Defense Index also saw a significant jump of 1.10 percent reaching 7016.50 as the market closed, recouping the similar fall it had in the previous sessions.
According to the experts, the Defense stocks have already experienced a solid hike in the recent sessions due to the terror attacks that took place in Pahalgam. The result of these terror attacks can be seen in the moves made by some of the investors who have locked in profits and maintained a cautious stance amidst the brewing cross-border troubles. It was also suggested by some of the experts that higher valuations of these stocks have prompted the investors to watch cautiously.
While the neighbouring countries India and Pakistan butt heads at the border after the horrific terror attacks in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir, the impact of these conflicts will be seen in the upcoming market sessions.
