The Mobarakeh Steel Group, the Middle East’s largest steel producer, has called on the Indian government to grant market access to Iranian companies, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial trade between the two countries.

Speaking at the 7th Iran Expo in Tehran, Abouzar Alvandi, Export Head for Far East and Middle Asia at Mobarakeh Steel Group, emphasized India’s position as the world’s second-largest steel producer and one of the fastest-growing major economies.

He stressed the value of cooperation between neighboring countries, noting that Mobarakeh is seeking only a minor share to export steel and other goods needed by Indian industries.

Mobarakeh Steel Group is a dominant force in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, supplying over 50% of Iran’s steel and serving key sectors such as automotive, construction, and packaging. The company is also recognized as the world’s leading producer of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI).

Alvandi highlighted the significant challenges Iranian exporters face due to US and European Union sanctions.

Logistical hurdles, especially in maritime shipping, further complicate exports.

He praised the Iran Expo as a vital platform for Iranian companies to showcase their products and connect with international buyers, particularly from neighboring countries like India. The event, now in its seventh edition, is seen as crucial for expanding Iran’s trade opportunities amid ongoing sanctions.
