After India suspended the 1960 Indus Water Treaty in the aftermath of Pahalgam attack, the issue has sparked humorous exchanges on social media, including digs at Pakistan over the worrisome issues it may face in the future.
Taking the internet by storm is a video featuring a group of people packing a parcel of water bottles to be delivered to Hania Aamir, an actor and YouTuber from Pakistan. The note on the parcel read, “To Hania Aamir, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan, from India. The video has been reportedly captured at a local courier service in India.
In one of the other retaliatory measures, the General Secretary of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), Ashoke Dubey, had called for a complete ban on Pakistani artists from working in India. In an interview, Dubey had said, “Since this is a matter of national interest, the nation comes first. The continuous attacks, including the recent one in Pahalgam on our tourists, are shameful. We have again issued a press release stating that if any of our members are found working with Pakistani artists or technicians, we will take action against them and stop working with them.”
Following the move, Hania has been reportedly replaced in Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3, a decision that has sparked mixed reactions from netizens. While some supported the move, others called it unnecessary and criticized it.
Hania, who has a considerable fan following in India, enjoys over a million subscribers on YouTube and more than 18 million followers on Instagram.
