Indian actors outpour grief on Pahalgam tragedy

The Indian film fraternity mourned the fatalities and injured of the terror attack on the Pahalgam tourist resort in Kashmir that took place on April 22.  The attack has taken the nation by storm with condolences and tributes pouring in from across the globe.

Standing by the families who lost their loved ones, Shah Rukh Khan urged his countrymen to stand united in the hour of need and wrote on X, “Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam. In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we as a Nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act.”

Salman Khan also expressed his anger on X and wrote, “Kashmir, heaven on planet earth turning into hell. Innocent people being targeted, my heart goes out to their families.”

Priyanka Chopra wrote a powerful message on her Instagram, condemning the act of terror.

She said, “What happened in Pahalgam is reprehensible. People were there on vacations, honeymoons, celebrating with their families. Just taking in the beauty of Kashmir. This is not a tragedy we can move past from. So many innocent lives were caught in a storm they never asked for. Targeted, right in front of their loved ones.” “I’m so deeply anguished by this,” Priyanka added

Actor Hrithik Roshan prayed for justice in his post on X too. He wrote, “Deeply disturbed, disgusted and heartbroken with the cowardly act of Terrorism that took place in Pahalgam. My condolences to the families of the departed souls, may they rest in peace. Prays for the speedy recovery of those injured. May justice and the spirit of humanity prevail (sic).”

In a long post highlighting the loss of humanity in the aftermath of such gruesomeness, Bollywood sensation Alia Bhatt wrote on X, “The news from Pahalgam is heartbreaking. Innocent lives lost. Tourists, families, people who were just… living. Seeking beauty. Seeking peace. And now there’s only grief. And the unbearable weight of it. Every time something like this happens, it chips away at our shared humanity. May those souls rest in peace. May those souls rest in peace. And may those left behind find strength somehow – though I don’t know how we even begin to ask that of them (sic).”

“Soo heart broken by #Pahalgam Attack. Such a beautiful place with kind hearted people. Condolences to all the families, near and dear of the victims. May their innocent souls rest in peace. Truly Heart breaking (sic),” wrote superstar Allu Arjun.

A stalwart of the Malayalam film industry, Mammootty said, “Words fall short in the face of such tragedy. It’s hard to even imagine the pain and trauma the affected families are going through right now. The entire nation stands in deep mourning, united in grief and solidarity (sic).”

He continued, “We place our full trust in our Armed Forces to bring justice for the brave souls we lost. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten (sic).”

Actor Vijay Deverakonda shared, “I celebrated my birthday 2 years ago in Pahalgam, amidst shooting a film, amidst laughter, amidst my local Kashmiri friends who took the greatest care of us. What happened yesterday is heartbreaking and infuriating – calling yourself a Force and shooting tourists is the most shameful embarrassing and cowardly act of dumb terrorism hiding behind guns (sic).”

Telugu star Mahesh Babu also sent prayers for the victims of the tragedy, “A dark day Deeply saddened by the attack in #Pahalgam. Hope we find the strength to stand together against such cruelty.. My thoughts and prayers are with the families during this difficult time (sic).”

Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni tagged PM Modi wrote, “Deeply saddened by the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families who’ve lost their loved ones. Praying for strength, healing, and peace for all those affected. Grateful to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji for the swift response and support (sic).”

Ram Charan of the RRR fame too outpoured his grief, “”Shocked and saddened by the terror attack in Pahalgam. Such incidents have no place in our society and should be strongly condemned. My prayers are with the families of those affected (sic).”

Paying their tributes to the victims were also actors Sunny Deol, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Kareena Kapoor.
