Delhi Capitals (DC) opener KL Rahul outshone his batting skills in a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) while smashing a half-century and taking his team to an eight-wicket victory in their IPL 2025 clash at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Rahul also completed 5,000 runs in IPL on way to his half-century. The batting line-up of Abishek Porel (51) and Axar Patel (34*) helped DC chase a steep target of 160 in just 17.5 overs.
LSG, on the other had a difficult day with a dismissal performance by Rishabh Pant who came out to bat at No. 7 as LSG managed a total of only 159. LSG opener Aiden Markram scored 52 and Mitchell Marsh too made a quick 45 but clever variations of the DC bowlers led to a below-par total for the team on their home turf.
The victorious DC Captain Axar Patel said that the way they came back with the ball was special. He stated that he plays according to the situation and keeps his thoughts clear as to which bowler to target. He cited his concerns regarding fielding which needs to be improved as a unit.
The outcome now takes Delhi to 12 points as they continue to occupy the second spot on the points table. However, they are now on level points with Gujarat Titans, who currently lead the charts.
