Rajasthan Royals (RR) have come under the scanner of match fixing charges after their shocking defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League 2025. The charges have been alleged by Jaideep Bihani, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener, who has claimed foul play in the game and raised questions about their loss in the match that RR could have easily taken home.

With RR just requiring nine runs to win in the final over having six wickets in hand, the LSG surprisingly defended their total of 181 and won the match by two runs.  The defeat, however caught the eyes of Bihani who has highlighted RR’s controversial past as their players were caught in spot-fixing in 2013. The then franchise owner of the team, Raj Kundra, was also caught in betting, leading to their ban for two seasons in 2016 and 2017 along with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Bihani further stated, ““The ad hoc committee has been appointed by the state government in Rajasthan. After analysing our work, we were given an extension for the fifth time. During our tenure, we’ve conducted all competitions successfully right from the district level to the national level. However, as soon as the time for hosting IPL came, the Sports Council took control of it. For IPL, the BCCI had first sent a letter to RCA only. The excuse given by Sports Council and RR was that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Sports Council for every match?,” Jaideep Bihani said while giving an interview to News18 Rajasthan.

RR has also conceded defeat in their match against Delhi Capitals and failed to score nine-runs in the last over. They lost the match in the Super Over. RR will next play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 24th April at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
