Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a thumping comeback with a seven-wicket win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Chandigarh in IPL 2025.

Virat Kohli broke the record for the number of 50-plus scores in the Indian Premier League while Devdutt Padikkal scored a fine 35-ball 61 as RCB continued their perfect away record with a win.

The RCB opted to bowl first and executed their plans to perfection. Their bowlers maintained consistency despite a good start by PBKS.  Punjab got restricted to a modest 157/6 with the spin duo of Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) turning the game on its head with tight middle-overs spells.

Krunal’s breakthrough of Priyansh Arya (22) triggered a collapse and Suyash’s crafty variations choked the scoring. It was followed by a loss of three wickets for PBKS with a run-out further hampering their game.

The RCB’s chase was led by Virat Kohli who created history by scoring his 59th half century and also his 67th fifty-plus score in the league. He took over David Warner’s previous best of 66. Kohli remained unbeaten on 73 off 54 balls, guiding RCB to target with still seven balls to spare.
