The Delhi Capitals (DC) have secured their fifth win after defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) through a Super Over in the ongoing season of IPL 2025. It was the first time this season that a Super Over sealed the fate of a team leading to their fifth consecutive victory.
With this, the Delhi Capitals has created a new record of winning the most number of matches with a Super Over, thus surpassing the previous record held by Punjab Kings (PBKS). The latter has three Super Over victories to its title in the history of IPL. The Capitals are also the first team to play five tied matches in all the seasons of IPL so far.
Commenting on the commendable performance, the JioHotstar expert Ajay Jadeja credited their consistency as the main reason for their back-to-back wins. He said, “They haven’t even used all their resources yet. No one has fully peaked, and that’s a positive. The ceiling is still ahead. If they’ve come this far without individual brilliance, the only way is up. Sure, there’s always risk, but they’re looking like a more complete unit this year. Once you get into the knockouts, it’s all about delivering on the day, but their consistency so far gives me hope that this could be their breakthrough season.”
Jadeja also praised the calm and calculated approach of KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs during the thrilling Super Over that turned the tables for the team on their victorious day.
