India’s beloved Goli Soda, a nostalgic beverage traditionally sealed with a marble, is making waves on the global stage after being rebranded as Goli Pop Soda. The drink, once a staple in Indian households, is now capturing hearts in the UK and Gulf supermarket chains, thanks to strategic marketing and innovative packaging.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has spearheaded this revival, marking a significant milestone for Indian beverages in international markets. Following a successful flag-off ceremony on February 4, 2025, Goli Pop Soda has entered markets in the USA, UK, Europe, and Gulf countries through trial shipments that have received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the product’s appeal, stating that it “returns to wow tastebuds worldwide.” The rebranding emphasizes not only nostalgia but also modernity, featuring a unique pop opener that enhances the fizzy experience consumers remember fondly. This innovative approach has helped Goli Pop Soda stand out amid fierce competition from multinational brands.
In the Gulf region, Goli Pop Soda is now available at Lulu Hypermarket, one of the largest retail chains. A partnership with Fair Exports India ensures consistent supply across thousands of outlets. Reports indicate that the drink has become a cultural phenomenon in the UK, resonating with consumers eager for traditional flavors presented in a contemporary format.
The resurgence of Goli Soda exemplifies India’s broader initiative to promote its rich culinary heritage globally. This effort not only showcases homegrown flavors but also opens up new avenues for domestic exports. With its successful international launch and growing popularity, Goli Pop Soda is poised to become a staple on supermarket shelves around the world, bridging cultural gaps and celebrating India’s beverage legacy.
