The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sweeping victory in the Delhi elections sparked jubilant celebrations among the Indian diaspora in Chicago, showcasing their unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision for development. The event, organized by the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP), brought together community leaders, party supporters, and distinguished guests in a display of unity and enthusiasm.
Dr. Najma Heptulla, former Deputy Speaker of the Rajya Sabha and former Minister of Minority Affairs, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Heptulla underscored the significance of democracy in a diverse nation like India. “The only way for us to thrive is by upholding democracy, especially given our diversity in languages, cultures, and religions—even our food and clothing,” she stated, highlighting the BJP’s role in fostering national unity and governance. She further criticized the previous Kejriwal government for its lack of governance, stating that his ministers were involved in corruption and that he failed to fulfill any of his promises.
The event commenced on a spiritual note with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra by Rohit Joshi, Dushyant Patel and patriotic song by Prerna Awasthi & Kavita Gupta setting a solemn yet celebratory tone. National Social Media Coordinator Nirmala Reddy and OFBJP State Coordinator Amar Upadhayay extended a warm welcome to attendees, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support in BJP’s success.
Reflecting on the party’s triumph, Rakesh Malhotra emphasized the relentless efforts of BJP volunteers and the electorate’s decisive mandate. “Bharat ki mitti ki shaan hai BJP, vikas aur vishwas ki pehchaan hai BJP,” he declared. “The people of Delhi have voted for progress, rejecting misrule and corruption. This marks a new beginning for the capital.” Delhi needs clean air, drinking water, safe roads, and congestion-free traffic, yet none of these fundamental needs were addressed, he added.
Echoing similar sentiments, Nirmala Reddy asserted, “This victory is not just political; it is a resounding endorsement of the BJP’s commitment to honest, effective governance. The people have spoken, and we are dedicated to fulfilling their aspirations.”

Highlighting the pivotal role of women and the middle class in BJP’s success, Amar Upadhayay remarked, “From safety to employment and better urban facilities, our commitment remains steadfast. This victory signifies the trust placed in us by families seeking a better future.”
Shailesh Rajput, a prominent voice in the Indian American community, emphasized the collective effort required to build a stronger and more vibrant Delhi. Siddesh Shevde stated, “For a developed India, it is important that the national capital is developed.” Several community leaders and diaspora members, including Rajender Thakkar, Yogesh Shah, Joy Shah, Vandana Jhingan, Shridhar Damle, Nirav Patel, Amitabh Mittal, Phani Krishnan, Shilesh Rajput, Radhika Garimella, Ramesh Choksi, Abhinav Raina, Chetan Rege, Rohit Joshi, Anurag Awasthi, Avatans Kumar, and Anil Singh expressed their enthusiasm for BJP’s roadmap for development and governance.
