On January 26, 2025, Haryana’s Shivangi Pathak made headlines by hoisting the Indian Tricolour atop Mount Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak, at 7:00 AM IST. This remarkable act coincided with India’s Republic Day celebrations and marked her fourth summit of the prestigious Seven Summits challenge.
Shivangi, a 22-year-old mountaineer from Hisar, has gained recognition for her adventurous spirit and determination. She previously made history as the youngest Indian to conquer Mount Everest at just 16 years old, a feat that earned her the Prime Minister’s Bal Shakti Puraskar. Her recent achievement not only celebrates her personal milestones but also brings honor to India on an international stage.
Mount Kosciuszko stands at 2,228 meters (7,310 feet) and is located in New South Wales within the Snowy Mountains region. It is renowned for its accessible trails and stunning views, making it a popular destination for climbers. By reaching its summit, Shivangi underscores her commitment to mountaineering and inspires many young Indians to pursue their dreams.
In her ascent, Shivangi expressed heartfelt gratitude towards her family, mentors, and organizations like Vedic Global and Australia’s Brahmin Sabha for their unwavering support throughout her journey. With plans to conquer Indonesia’s Carstensz Pyramid next, she aims to complete all seven peaks, further solidifying her legacy in the mountaineering community.
