Global Indians Celebrate, World Greets India on 76th Republic Day

On January 26, 2025, Indians across the globe came together to celebrate the 76th Republic Day, marking a significant milestone in India’s history. The day was commemorated with vibrant ceremonies at Indian embassies and consulates, reflecting the unity and cultural diversity of the Indian diaspora. World leaders also extended their warm greetings, underscoring India’s growing influence on the global stage.

In major cities worldwide, Indian communities organized flag-hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs. In Beijing, Ambassador Pradeep Rawat addressed a large gathering at the Indian Embassy, reading out President Droupadi Murmu’s message. The event featured traditional performances that highlighted India’s rich heritage.

Singapore hosted one of the largest celebrations, with around 2,500 attendees participating in the festivities at the High Commission of India. High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule delivered the President’s address, emphasizing India’s commitment to democracy and development.

In London, the High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami highlighted India’s achievements, growing India-UK relationship, and the invaluable contributions of the Indian diaspora. World leaders took to social media and official channels to convey their best wishes to India on this momentous occasion.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong expressed her admiration for India’s democratic values and its role in promoting peace in the Indo-Pacific region. She emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Australia and India.

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also sent his greetings, acknowledging the historical and cultural connections shared between India and Nepal. He expressed hopes for continued cooperation in various sectors, including trade and tourism.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recognized Republic Day as a celebration of India’s Constitution and its significance as one of the world’s largest democracies.
