3 Indian-origin women cricketers to play for Australia in U19 Tri-Series

In a move that celebrates diversity and talent, Cricket Australia has named three players of Indian origin in their U19 women’s squads for the upcoming tri-series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Ribya Syan, Samara Dulvin, and Hasrat Gill have been selected to represent Australia in both the T20 and 50-over formats of the tournament.

The tri-series, set to commence on September 19 in Brisbane, will feature a total of four T20 matches and two One-Day Internationals. The Youth Selection Panel has chosen 15-player squads for each format, with former Australian cricketer Kristen Beams appointed as the head coach.

Ribya Syan, a right-arm fast-bowling all-rounder from Victoria, Samara Dulvin, a right-handed batter who has previously played for the Australia U19 against England, and Hasrat Gill, a pace bowler who has represented Australia in U19 cricket against England and Sri Lanka, have been selected for the prestigious tournament.

Their inclusion in the squad reflects the growing diversity within Australian cricket and the significant contributions of players with Indian heritage. The selection of these three talented players serves as an inspiration to young cricketers of Indian origin, showcasing the opportunities available to them in the sport.

The tri-series will feature a total of six T20 matches and three One-Day Internationals. The T20 matches will be played at Alan Pettigrew Oval, Ian Healy Oval, and Bill Pippen Oval, while the ODIs will take place at Alan Pettigrew Oval and Ian Healy Oval.

T20 Tri-Series Schedule:

  • 19th September – Australia vs New Zealand – Alan Pettigrew Oval – 1:30 pm
  • 20th September – New Zealand vs Sri Lanka – Alan Pettigrew Oval – 1:30 pm
  • 22nd September – Australia vs Sri Lanka – Ian Healy Oval – 6:00 pm
  • 24th September – Australia vs New Zealand – Bill Pippen Oval – 1:30 pm
  • 25th September – Australia vs Sri Lanka – Bill Pippen Oval – 1:30 pm
  • 26th September – New Zealand vs Sri Lanka – Bill Pippen Oval – 1:30 pm

50-Over Tri-Series Schedule:

  • 30th September – Australia vs Sri Lanka – Alan Pettigrew Oval – 9:30 am
  • 1st October – New Zealand vs Sri Lanka – Alan Pettigrew Oval – 9:30 am
  • 2nd October – Australia vs New Zealand – Ian Healy Oval – 2:30 pm
