An Air India air hostess was brutally attacked in her hotel room at the Radisson Red Hotel near Heathrow, London, early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM when the intruder, reportedly a homeless man, entered her room while she was asleep. Upon waking, she screamed for help as he assaulted her with a clothes hanger and dragged her across the floor.

Fortunately, her cries alerted nearby colleagues, who rushed to her aid and managed to apprehend the assailant before he could escape. The victim sustained multiple bruises during the attack and was taken to a hospital for treatment. She has since returned to India, where she is receiving counseling and support from Air India.

Air India expressed deep concern over the incident, stating they are “deeply anguished by an unlawful incident of intrusion at a hotel, operated by a major international chain.” The airline emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of its crew members, pledging to work closely with local police and hotel management to ensure such incidents do not recur. They are also providing professional counseling to the affected crew member and her colleagues.

Sources revealed that the hotel had previously received complaints regarding security issues, including poorly lit corridors and an unmanned reception area. This incident has raised alarms among Air India staff, prompting calls for heightened security measures for crew accommodations, especially in hotels located outside Central London.

The attack highlights growing concerns about safety in certain parts of London, particularly for those working in the hospitality and aviation sectors. Air India pilots and crew members have expressed the need for increased vigilance, especially when staying in hotels away from the city center. This incident follows a recent stabbing of an 11-year-old Australian tourist in Leicester Square, further escalating fears about safety in the area.

In light of this attack, many crew members are now advocating for stricter security protocols at hotels, urging the selection of properties with robust security systems. They have noted that the current law and order situation in some parts of London demands heightened awareness and caution, particularly after dark.

Air India has requested that the privacy of those involved in the incident be respected as they navigate the aftermath of this traumatic event. The airline’s proactive approach in addressing the situation reflects a commitment to ensuring the safety of its employees during their travels.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on improving security measures for airline crew members and addressing the broader implications of safety in urban environments. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by workers in the hospitality and aviation industries, emphasizing the need for vigilance and enhanced safety protocols.
