Indo-American Community Alliance (ICA) on Tuesday, Aug 6th, 2024, arranged a Meet and Greet with the Indian Men’s Cricket Team for the Blind at the Royal Alberts Palace in New Jersey. The event was attended by approximately 200 community members underscoring the significance of this initiative.
ICA, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the vibrant and diverse Indian community, delivers with a firm commitment to nurturing growth, fostering collaboration, and promoting empowerment. ICA aims to establish a community-based platform that resonates with the values and aspirations of the Indo-American diaspora.
The event commenced with a devotional song sung by Jyothi Kalai, a differently abled and blind singer at 7:30 PM. Guided by the leadership team of President, Secretary & Treasurer, the event unfolded with warm welcomes extended to guests and community members alike. The evening was infused with vibrant performances by local young performers, showcasing the diversity and talent within our community.
At 8:15 PM, President spoke about the Indo-American Community Alliance (ICA), outlining its objectives. The President graciously invited the founders of the Samardhanam Trust onto the stage, where they eloquently talked about the formation of trust to support the differently abled persons and how the cricket team was formed and developed over the years winning the last T20 world championship. At this time, whole team (17 members) was called upon and were introduced by the team manager followed by the team demonstrating how the game is played eliciting resounding applause and support from the audience.
In a heartfelt gesture, the executive committee proceeded to felicitate the founders and the players for their unwavering dedication and inspiring people. Their selfless contributions were acknowledged and celebrated, serving as inspiration for all present.
With an ambition to support and inspire more people to appreciate the talent and dedication of blind athletes, a fund raiser was organized for which few corporate executives and attendees responded positively and donated to the cause. Throughout the event, delicious food was served to all the attendees. The event was not only entertaining but also inspirational, leaving an indelible impression on all who attended.
ICA extended heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of this event and encouraged everyone to support it as their participation is integral to the mission of empowering and uplifting the community.
As ICA embarks on this transformative journey, ICA invites individuals from all walks of life to join in its quest to forge stronger bonds, foster collaboration, and effect positive change. Together, ICA can realize its vision of a more connected and resilient Indo-American community.
