The Kadva Patidar Cultural Association (KPCA) was established in 1986, while everyone was thinking of building the temple and community center back in 2013, The Kadva Patidar Cultural Association and the Patidar Cultural Association have decided to establish a new organization, Umiya Dham Hindu Temple, in Edison, NJ under the Past president Mr. Baldev Patel.
During 2013 to 2016 – They were looking for land to build the community center and Umiya Dham temple. Finally, in 2016, the team found 5 acres of land and a 70,000-square-foot building at a prime location on Oak Tree Road, Edison, NJ and prominent area with a significant Indian community, under the leadership of KPCA Chairman, Executive Vice President Umiya Dham, and IBA Executive Vice President Mr. Harshad Patel. During this time the committee chairman was Mr. Vishnu Patel and committee members were Arvind Patel, Mahendra Patel, Kirit Patel, Atul Patel, Dr. Manubhai Dadaniya, Kanubhai Patel and Chandu Patel. The renovations of the temple started in 2019 and at present they continue to host events with banquet facilities under the leadership of 450 Board of Trustees.
At present in the year 2024, because of high population in this famous location it is being planned to build a new Mataji’s Temple in America, the new design will include a shikhar and idols of various Sanatan Hindu deities, renovations are expected to be completed within three years.
President Arvind Patel, Executive Vice Presidents Harshad Patel and Mahendra Patel, Secretary Atul Patel, PCA President Prakash Govani, KPCA President Dixit Patel cited the increasing number of devotees as the reason for this significant update. The new temple will also serve as a cultural hub where all festivals can be celebrated. Currently, the temple attracts 30,000 Indian visitors each month
The Board of Trustees has played a crucial role in the temple’s management and construction efforts. The new temple will feature the largest idol of Umiya Mataji, along with parking to accommodate the influx of devotees. The renovated temple will be unveiled during a seven-day Bhagwat week, which will attract many Indian residents.
Temple Construction Details:
- Height: The temple stands more than 3 stories tall and covers 90,000 square feet.
- Area: It will be constructed on 5 acres of land.
- Significance: It will be the largest and first Sanatan Hindu temple, Oak Tree Road, Edison, NJ in New Jersey.
Special Features:
- Flag: A 10-foot high flag will adorn the temple Shikhar.
- Idols: Sanatan idols of Ambe Maa, Ram Darbar, Umiya Maa, Radha-Krishna, Shiva- Parvati, Hanuman, Ganesha, and Shivling will be installed.
- Materials: All construction materials, including stone and sanctum items, will be sourced from India.
- Community Hall: A hall for celebrating various occasions will be built.
- Structure: The temple will have three stories.
- Parking: A special parking lot for 200 cars has been arranged.
The temple will celebrate its 5th annual Patotsava with a Bhagwat week from July 28 to August 3. Renowned narrators Chitralekha and Sailana Mahamandaleshwar Madhavdasji will be present for the event, which will also draw numerous devotees and guests.
