Former President Donald Trump’s life was potentially saved during an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. As shots were heard, he turned his head to reference a chart titled “Illegal Immigration Into the US” displayed on a screen to his right. Trump was presenting a chart of border-crossing statistics showing illegal immigration into the US.

According to his former White House doctor, Trump believed that if he hadn’t pointed at that chart and turned his head just then, the bullet would have hit him right in the head.

The FBI has identified the gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired shots, one of which grazed Trump in the ear at an outdoor rally in Butler. Thomas Matthew Cooks was planted on the roof of a manufacturing plant located over 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds, the New York Post reported, citing sources.
