Long Island Indo American Lions Club celebrated its 3rd Annual Gala Dinner on 30th June 2024 at Pearl Banquet at Hicksville. The program was attended by dignitaries from Lions Club International District 20K2 Nassau County and Bermuda, along with well-known community leaders and Honorees. The third annual gala lived up to the Lions Club motto, We Serve.
The gala dinner started at 6:00 pm with cocktails and appetizers and at 7:15 pm Indu Gajwani, the Founder President of the club welcomed guests and dignitaries. For an auspicious start, Ganesh Vandana dance was performed by Group Macaulay Deewane to remove any hindrances to the Program. The mesmerizing dance performance was presented by Khushi Oza, Anil Singh, Alisha Shah, Anjali Cherian, Stasia Bose, and Mariya Kooran.
Anju Sharma, Vice President of Lions Club introduced Gala Chair Mr. Kanak Golia and thereafter Mr. Golia gave his speech and thanked everyone. A presentation was displayed depicting achievements of all the projects such as collecting eyeglasses, blankets donation to veterans, food to the homeless, school supplies to needy children, hygienic products to the needy, donations given to the cancer care association, cataract surgeries performed, and lot of other humanitarian needs under the Presidency of Mr. Shyam Gajwani. All these glorious achievements were presented by Secretary Sanju Sharma.
Mr. Anil Shah, Mr. Kanak Golia, Mr. Krishna Maddipatla, Dr. Nirmal Khurana and Dr. Purna Chandra Atluri were among the 5 honorees from the community who have always helped and supported the community.
The Prestigious Melvin Jones Award was awarded to Mr. Aron Govil, Mr. Gary Sikka, Mr. Inderpal Chhabra, Mr. Jay Shah, Mr. Kiran Reddy, Mr. Mukesh Ranu, Mr. Nand Panjwani, Mr. Narinder Kapoor and Mr. Pradip Parikh.
Mr. Shyam Gajwani, the President of the Lions Club spoke and thanked all the Executive Committee, Chair Committee, and people who provided help to make this Gala Dinner, a grand success. The program closed with a Bollywood Mash-up dance by the Macaulay Deewane group and the dance floor was opened to the guests for them to enjoy an energy-filled evening. The elegant and well-organized 3rd gala dinner program was a testimony to the enthusiasm shown by all the attendees and the planning, and efforts put in by the supporters and all the Lion Members in making it a great accomplishment.
