Manish Chandra, the Indian American CEO of Poshmark, has been emphasizing the importance of leveraging the unique strengths of the Indian diaspora. With 72 out of 648 US unicorns founded by individuals of Indian origin, Chandra recognizes the potential for success by tapping into the innovative perspectives of second-generation Indian Americans.

“Many of us are first-generation immigrants. Our kids are growing up. They are at a very different level of operating. They are much more integrated into society; they are thinking about the problems in very unique ways. And they are also thinking about problems that we don’t even know about in some ways in terms of their generation,” he elaborated.

Chandra pressed upon the urgency of staying in tune with these changes. “It is really tuning your energy into what’s happening,” he said. The fundamental aspect of entrepreneurial opportunities is getting shaped by the impact of a generational shift.

These second-generation Indian Americans are deeply integrated into American society and approach contemporary problems in unique ways. Chandra believes that by focusing on fundamental human experiences, can lead to entrepreneurial opportunities. Harnessing the Indian diaspora’s perspectives can enable more Indian American founders to achieve success in the US.
