The windy and hot Saturday afternoon witnessed enthusiastic Indian Americans showing their support for India after India won the T20 World Cup. A car rally was organized in Hicksville in Long Island, New York by Mukesh Modi. Hicksville is a hamlet within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, Long Island in New York, with a large Indian population.
The rally started at the India Association of Long Island (IALI) Center in Hicksville. Many cars participated in this rally, adorned with Indian flags. The huge fleet of cars started from Patel Brothers, passing through Maharaja and Apna Bazar, and finally came back to the IALI Center. The participants enjoyed the event while cheering “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”.
The car rally was organized by Mukesh Modi along with Nitin Khurana, Kishore Malik, Indu Jaiswal, Shashi Goyal, Tony Kejriwal, Beena Sabapathy, Prafulba Vaghela, Neeru Bhambri and Surin Manaktala.
After India’s glorious victory, Nitin Khurana and Mukesh Modi discussed the plan on the phone and decided to celebrate India’s historic win in the T20 WC. The car rally was organized at lightning speed in almost an hour. Mukesh Modi thanked Nitin Khurana for his support and love for India and thanked all the organizers, participants, and Media, also.
Rajesh Kumar of Bengali Sweets distributed hot Jalebis to all the participants. International filmmaker Mukesh Modi said the car rally was a tribute to the T20 World Cup victory by India after 17 years. So, this moment was really a proud and big celebration for every Indian.
“Finally, Rohit Sharma got a feather in his hat before his retirement and India won the T20 World Cup. Many congratulations to all the players and the entire team of India as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI for this emphatic victory. After years of patience and countless efforts, our Team won the T20 World Cup,” said Mukesh Modi.
