As the 2024 National elections are underway, the Indian Overseas Congress strongly supports free and fair elections that reflect the people’s will through the EVMs. To provide transparency and auditing capabilities IOC will continue its campaign to have VVPAT with every EVM.

IOC expresses its serious concerns over the dismantling of the Institutions that provided stability and strength to India’s constitution that guaranteed every citizen of India democracy, freedom, and equal justice regardless of caste, creed, language, religion, or region.

IOC is greatly alarmed by the onslaught on civil society and related institutions that serve the more significant public interests that are being systematically bullied or removed to the detriment of the common interests;

IOC is shocked by the weaponization of the OCI cards to silence the NRI criticism of the Government and characterize legitimate criticism as anti-national to the political ends.

IOC deplores the increasing attacks on minorities and their institutions by the current governing disposition to marginalize and remove them from the public eye using tools like FCRA to fulfill their odious political agenda.

The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) is an organization affiliated with the Indian National Congress (INC), which is one of the major political parties in India. The Indian Overseas Congress focuses explicitly on the concerns and interests of the Indian diaspora living in various countries worldwide. The primary objective of the Indian Overseas Congress is to connect with and engage the Indian community abroad, fostering a sense of unity and addressing their issues.

IOC serves as a platform for people of Indian origin living outside India to participate in the political and social processes of their host countries and India. The organization works on building relationships, advocating for the rights and interests of the Indian diaspora, and promoting cultural and economic ties between India and the countries where people of Indian origin reside. It also plays a role in promoting the values and policies of the Indian National Congress among the Indian diaspora.

The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) is steadfast in its commitment to democracy, pluralism, and social justice. We stand as a voice for the voiceless, advocating for the rights and interests of the Indian diaspora and upholding the values that are the foundation of our organization.
