The entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Kiran Patel has played an instrumental role in the launch of Orlando’s new medical school. Dr Patel along with his wife, Dr Pallavi Patel, a trained pediatrician—and a key protagonist behind her husband’s massive philanthropic ventures participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM).
Dr Kiran Patel was born in Zambia, Africa to Asian-Indian parents. He was educated under the British Educational System in Zambia and then got his diplomas from Cambridge University and The University of London. He then went to study medicine at Gujarat University in India and did his Internship in Africa. Dr. Patel did his residency in Internal Medicine in New Jersey in 1980. He completed a fellowship in the cardiology program affiliated with the Columbia University of New York in 1982.
The Drs Kiran C. and Pallavi Patel Family Foundation focuses on bettering the world through health, education, and culture. The impact of their extraordinary generosity is evident across the globe, particularly in Florida, India, and Africa. While actively initiating projects, the Drs. Patel also respond in times of need.

The inauguration of OCOM comes after nearly four and a half years since the establishment of the Tampa Bay Regional Campus of Nova Southeastern University in Florida, housing both the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences.
