Indian American Forum honors women achievers at annual awards gala

The 13th Women’s Achievements gala, organized by the Indian American Forum (IAF),  was held on March 2nd as part of National Women’s History month, celebrating women of character, courage, commitment and accomplishments.  

Under the leadership of Chairperson Indu Jaiswal and Gala Chair Shammi Singh, and other members of IAF, the Gala celebrated the outstanding achievements of select women. Dr Bhavani Srinivasan, Dr Mala Sachdeva, Neela Mukherjee Lockel, Dr Mamta Shaha and Samyuktha Arun Kumar were felicitated.

The honorees were presented special citations from Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman’s office, Certificates of Recognition from The Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer S. Desena, and Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava’s office, Town of Hempstead Donald X. Clavin’s office, Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Office of The Nassau County’s Comptroller Elaine Phillips’ office.

Dr. Bobby Kalotee, founder of IAF, welcomed several officials including North Hempstead Town Supervisor Hon. Jennifer S. Desena, Town of Hempstead Deputy Supervisor Hon. Dorothy L. Goosby, and Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips.

Mrs Sharan Premi was awarded the lifetime achievement award for her unconditional services and support to the community.

Indian American Forum is a non for profit organization of Asian Indians in America to promote the cultural, secular heritage and values of India as well as the furtherance of friendship and understanding with people of other cultural backgrounds.

Since 1997, IAF is striving to provide a forum for fostering a mutual and better understanding through its socio-cultural activities and enjoys a very cordial relationship amongst local associations and communities.
