Ruby Sahota appointed chief government whip in the House of Commons in Brampton

Ruby Sahota, a Canadian Liberal politician who was elected as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada to represent the federal riding Brampton North, will now helm during the 2015 Canadian federal election. Born and raised in Brampton, Sahota, a Liberal MP, has been representing her community. She holds an Honors bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Peace Studies and a law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.

She is the daughter of former President of Ontario Sikh Gurdwara Council, Harbans Singh Jandali and Surinder Kaur, natives of Jandali Kalan village of Punjab.  As Chief Government Whip, Sahota will play a pivotal role in ensuring party discipline within the Liberal caucus. Her responsibilities include managing party members’ presence during crucial votes and overseeing the scheduling of speakers for various legislative proceedings.

A two-time MP, Ruby Sahota is already serving as a member of board of internal economy and member of the sub-committee on review of Parliament’s involvement with associations and recognised inter-parliamentary groups in Brampton Government. Office-bearers and activists of several constitutional and social organizations felicitated Ruby in absentia and momentoes and citations were received by her parents on her behalf.
