A recent poll by Rasmussen Reports, is indicating that Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, is emerging as the top contender to succeed President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s nominee for the upcoming presidential elections.

Rasmussen Reports is an independent media company that focuses on gathering and publishing public opinion data since 2003. Rasmussen Reports compiles tracking data on a full month-by-month basis and daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 300 likely voters per night and reported on a five-day rolling average basis.

According to the poll, nearly half of the democrats, who voted in the Rasmussen Reports polls, expressed their choice for someone other than 81-year-old Biden to fight the US Presidential elections. Though Biden asserts that he is the best-qualified candidate, while the polls indicate that his age is off-putting to voters.

The poll revealed that 33% of Democrats expressed the view that it is “somewhat” to “very likely” for Biden to be removed and replaced by his party. 60-year-old Michelle Obama arose as the surprise alternative candidate to succeed 81-year-old Joe Biden. She garnered 15% of the votes from all likely voters and received 20% of democrat votes.

Other contenders included Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who received 10%, 9%, 8% and 7% of the votes from all likely voters, respectively.

Michelle Obama was the first lady of the US from 2009 to 2017 as the wife of the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama. She was also the first African-American first lady. Speculation has been rife about Michelle Obama entering the 2024 Presidential Election arena. In January, Michelle Obama had expressed fear about the 2024 election and said that it ‘haunts’ her sleep. She said she was terrified that Donald Trump would win.

“What’s going to happen in this next election? I’m terrified about what could possibly happen, because our leaders matter,” Michelle had said. “The fact that people think that government — ‘eh, does it really even do anything?’ — and I’m like ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us, and we cannot take this democracy for granted.’ And I worry sometimes that we do. Those are the things that keep me up,” she said.

“I continue to predict — as I have for well over two years — that Michelle Obama will be the Democrat Party Nominee for President in 2024,” said  Roger J Stone Jr, the longtime adviser to Donald Trump who posted on social media.  Columnist Cindy Adams wrote in the New York Post that Obama’s concerns were not a mere casual remark but a strategic move.

Political analysts and observers are keenly watching out for any official announcement from Michelle Obama regarding her intentions for the 2024 presidential race.
