The webinar on wedding destinations in India was held on February 17th. It was an eye-opener to the plethora of possibilities in India.

The consulate posted on X, “The India in New York hosted a webinar on wedding destinations in India showcasing myriad locations across the country offering ideal setup for tying the nuptial knot. Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan alluded to PM @narendramodi’s call for ‘wedinIndia’ and encouraged participants to explore India for weddings of their families and friends. Industry expert Parthip Thyagarajan engaged the audience on various destination wedding offerings in India.

Recently, Prime Minster Modi flagged the issue of couples opting for destination weddings abroad and said people should be encouraged to “Wed in India” so that wealth remains within the country. “You should create an environment that this disease of getting married abroad does not enter your community. Why shouldn’t the marriage take place at the feet of Ma Khodal (Goddess revered by the community). I would say ‘Wed In India’, like Made in India, Marry in India,” he said. He also appealed to the people to help promote tourism within the country.

The Consul General of India, New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, and Deputy Consul General of India, New York, Dr Varun Jeph attended this webinar. Also present was Parthip Thyagarajan, the CEO of WeddingSutra a company that “provides comprehensive wedding information and inspiration” to couples ahead of their wedding.

CGI Pradhan said, “When it comes to wedding tourism, I would say, India probably is the ideal destination.” He underlined that the country has something to offer for weddings of all religions and budgets. “So whether we are talking about the Himalayas to the backwaters of Kerala or from the forts of Rajasthan to the lakes of Orissa or even the newly opened tourism sector in the North East of India, you are basically going to have an unforgettable experience which you cannot probably replicate elsewhere,” Pradhan stated.

The webinar was aimed at discovering enchanting wedding venues in India amidst regal palaces, majestic mountains, serene backwaters, and sun-kissed beaches and learning about their timeless potential. Thyagarajan spoke in detail about the popular wedding destinations and properties around the country.
