The Indian consulate in Chicago celebrates the 8th Ayurveda Day

The Consulate General of India, Chicago, organized the 8th Ayurveda Day 2023 on 10 November 2023. The event was attended by close to 100 Ayurveda enthusiasts from the Midwest region. Recognition of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic products as holistic approach to health was the main focus of the discussion.

The program began with the chanting of Dhanvantri Stavan and lighting of lamp by the Consul General Somnath Ghosh along with Swami Ishatmananda, Vivekananda Vedanta Society.

Consul General Somnath Ghosh, in his opening remarks, stressed the relevance and importance of Ayurveda, which is one of the most ancient and well-documented system of medicine which is very relevant also from a commercial angle in modern times.

A distinguished panel of speakers from different parts of US Midwest included Swami Ishatmananda, Vivekananda Vedanta Society, Vaidya Greeshma Varghese from Naperville, Dr KV Rao, Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine specialist, Dr. Colleen Seen, Culinary Historian who specializes in writing about food of Indian subcontinent, Vaidya Pushpalata Biradar, Vaidya Ulka Nagarkar. The program was moderated by Vaidya Deepti Suri, certified Ayurveda practitioner in a very skilful manner. Dr. Colleen Sen presented a book titled “Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine” to the Consul General.

The program was highly appreciated by the audience which comprised of prominent members of the Indian diaspora and associations, ayurveda and yoga enthusiasts, diplomats, etc.
