Sreya Francis, a Canada-based Malayali researcher has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘AIconics Solution Implementer of the Year’ award instituted by the International AI Summit. Francis, an AI scientist from Waterloo, Ontario, is one of five nominees for this year’s prize that honors work connected to the innovatively implemented aspects of AI technology.

Sreya is the Head of Technical Innovation at Farm Mutual Re. Previously, Sreya has led multiple projects in the field of AI and Robotics, including Privacy Preserving Machine Learning Research at MILA in Montreal, Canada and Smart Home Automation Applied Research at Panasonic AI R&D Lab, Tata Elxsi.

Sreya has a Masters in AI from University of Montreal and has received multiple accolades including the prestigious Microsoft Research Diversity Award twice in the years 2020 and 2021

The AICONICS Awards Shortlist 2023 – Solution Implementer Of The Year is open to individuals who have developed in-house innovation and successfully implemented AI to drive meaningful change and business growth for their brand.

As per the release, Sreya has a unique blend of excellence in core and applied AI research, industrial innovation and technical leadership. She invented one of the very first approaches to merge distributed machine learning, causal machine learning and blockchain to decentralize AI, and proposed and developed the very first implementation of ‘Causal Federated Learning’ which has been adopted by top research labs and industries worldwide.

Sreya has experience partnering with top brand names (including Wipro, MILA, CHUM Medical Research) globally to make innovative technology, especially AI, accessible to all sectors worldwide. She has given talks in numerous international conferences and mentored several young women in the field of AI.

Voting is now open until December 5 and the winner will be revealed on the headliners stage at The AI Summit New York.

The AIconics are a benchmark for industry excellence, recognizing the achievements of individuals instrumental in breakthrough innovation and cutting-edge application of artificial intelligence in business.
