International Punjabi Language Olympiad to be held in December


The exam would be open for students residing in India, USA, Australia, Europe, and other countries.

With an aim of promoting Punjabi language, the Punjab state government is holding an online International Punjabi Language Olympiad. The event will be held on December 9 and 10 people from Punjab had settled in different countries in search of better employment opportunities, but the next generation was not fully aware of their own language, according to Education and Language Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

The Olympiad in the Punjabi language is organized every year in India by the PSEB and the government of Punjab. Punjabi is a language indigenous to India, so, the PSEB (Punjab School Education Board) administers the International Punjabi Language Olympiad (IPLO), a Punjabi language test. The Punjab Government aids in the organization of the exam. It is the largest exam conducted for the Punjabi language that students around the globe attend.

Students up to grade IX could participate in the Olympiad. The exam would be open for students residing in India, USA, Australia, Europe and other countries. Registration for Olympiad could be done on the Punjab School Education Board website.

On October 25, 2023, the PSEB Olympiad registration for 2023–2024 opened. November 20, 2023, is the last day to finish IPLO registration.
