Tsunami of success! ‘Gadar 2’ breaks records amid chatter of third movie

Actor Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ has literally taken the box office by storm. Speaking of the Deol family, they are leaving no chance to celebrate ‘Gadar 2’ success. On Monday, Sunny’s father and legendary star Dharmendra took to Instagram and wrote, “Friends, love you all for your loving response to Gadar 2 His blessings and your good wishes made it a blockbuster.”

He also dropped a picture of him flashing his warm smile while standing behind a flower bouquet that adorned the setting, with LED alphabet lights forming the words “Gadar 2”.

Helmed by Anil Sharma, the film also stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles. In Gadar 2, Sunny reprised his iconic character of Tara Singh while Ameesha Patel returned as Sakeena. Produced by Zee Studios, the movie also features Ukarsh Sharma as Charanjeet. Gadar 2 is set in 1971 and follows Tara Singh’s journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh from the Pakistani Army.

‘Gadar 2’ is a sequel to the 2001 hit film ‘Gadar’, which showcased Tara Singh and Sakeena’s love story set against the backdrop of the partition of India in 1947. Tara Singh went all the way to Pakistan to save his kid, Charan Jeet Singh (played by Utkrash Sharma) from the Pakistani Army. The flick starred the late Amrish Puri in a pivotal role. It revolves around Tara Singh (portrayed by Sunny), a Sikh truck driver from Amritsar, who falls in love with Sakina (portrayed by Ameesha), a Muslim girl hailing from a political family in Lahore, Pakistan.

Continuing with its sizzling run at the box office, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer ‘Gadar 2’ minted 30 crores on the sixth day post its theatrical release. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has created “typhoon, tsunami, hurricane”.

The film scorched the box office on August 15, Independence Day, minting Rs 55.40 crores.

A success meet was oragnised in Mumbai to celebrate the success of ‘Gadar 2’.  Both Sunny and Ameesha looked stunning while they posed for the media. During the press conference of ‘Gadar 2’, which was held in Mumbai, Sunny talked about the success of the film and said, “I was quite stressed over the period of time and when this film hit the cinema halls, I don’t know why it felt like God came inside me. I was crying and laughing all night and evening. I also met my father (Dharmendra) and said no ‘I am not drunk, I am happy what do I do’.”

Utkarsh Sharma and Simrat Kaur also dazzled during the success party. They seemed quite excited and grabbed the eyeballs with their attire which was perfect for the occasion.

Director Anil Sharma was also present at the event. As he is celebrating the success of the sequel of ‘Gadar’, he told the media about ‘Gadar 3’, “You’ll have to wait for that. Intezar ka phal meetha hota hai, just like this one (Gadar 2).  Some thoughts have come to me and Shaktimaan Ji’s (writer of Gadar 2) minds. So just wait everything will happen.”

Actor Gaurav Chopra, who played the role of Lieutenant Colonel Devendra Rawat in the movie also graced the occasion. He looked dapper in a party suit. Popular singer Udit Narayan was also present at the party. Mithun with Palak Muchhal was also present and enjoyed the success party.

Rajkumar Santoshi and Subhash Ghai were also among the attendees. While interacting with the media during a press conference about ‘Gadar 2’, Sunny talked about ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, ‘Apne 2’, and ‘Gadar 3’.

He said, “I know that everyone is waiting for these movies. Our whole family came together in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ and people laughed, and enjoyed the movie. Everyone’s now waiting for the second part but for that, the story is very important. As of now, I don’t have the right story for it.” At the end of ‘Gadar 2’ the film credits read “To be continued” which raised the fans’ excitement for the third instalment of the film.
