Nomoskar from Bangla Bhawan, greeted Ambassador Eric Garcetti as he reached Banga Bhawan in Delhi to savour authentic bengali food including banana flower cultlet, luchi, dal, mishti doi, roshogolla and the versatile culture.
As the conversations flowed he was told that
the Bengali food is very much influenced by the mughals, by the British and the chinese.
Garcetti said, ” I am a musician and would like to know about music of Bengal. Bengali culture is not just about food. Of course, there is Satyajit Ray, who was one of the greatest film makers. “
The Ambassador was told, as the talks flowed over good food that Satyajit Ray was a great writer and poet too and a multi talented personality. Bengal brought in the cultural rennaissance in India.
Ambassador Garcetti found the mustard coated fish very unique, tart, pungent and spicy.
Showing keen inquisitiveness about Bengalis, Envoy Garcetri was told that Bengalis love football more than cricket.
From legendary macher paturi to sweetness overload mishti doi and roshogollas, Ambassador Garcetti experienced the flavors of Kolkata’s culinary wonders. He concluded, “The Indian food culture never ceases to amaze me. See you soon, Kolkata!”
