In honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the US, a restaurant in New Jersey has prepared a special Indian platter and named it ‘Modi Ji thali.’ This thali is specially curated by chef Shripad Kulkarni and includes a variety of splendid Indian dishes like khichdi, rasgulla, sarson ka saag, Kashmiri dum aloo, idli, dhokla, chaach, and papad.

Chef Kulkarni has prioritized and selected the most liked dishes by the local Indian diaspora and prepared this thali as a mark of respect and love for the Indian diaspora, PM Modi famous for. This ‘thali’ is dedicated to the cause of Millets and pays tribute to the International Year of Millets, 2023 declared by the United Nations, which was recommended by the Indian government in 2019.

“We have plans to launch this thali soon. I am positive that it will become popular. Once this thali gains popularity, I also intend to launch a Dr. Jaishankar Thali because he has the appeal of a rockstar within the Indian American community,” said Chef Kulkarni.

During his first state visit to the US, on June 22, Prime Minister Modi will be hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at a dinner and welcome the PM with a 21-gun salute in the presence of more than 7,000 Indian Americans. On June 21, prominent Indian Americans will participate in the International Yoga Day event led by PM Modi on the north lawns of the UN complex in New York.
