Rohit Verma is appointed Dean of University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business

The University of South Carolina, USC has selected Rohit Verma with effect from August 1 as dean of the Darla Moore School of Business. Verma is going to join the school from VinUniversity of Hanoi, Vietnam, where he is serving as the founding provost of Vietnam’s first private, not-for-profit international university.

The Indian American is also a professor of operations, technology, and information management at SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University. Verma has served in various concurrent leadership positions at VinUniversity in Vietnam since 2019, while on leave from Cornell.

USC President Michael Amiridis described Verma as an award-winning teacher, a successful researcher, and an innovative leader with an excellent academic record and international perspective. Verma enjoys credibility as a founding member of a university of international repute, to shape the excellence standard of the school through innovative and decisive leadership. At VinUniversity, Verma has successfully led the recruitment of accomplished and diverse academic leaders and teachers from over 10 countries, to develop a fully integrated campus life system and curriculum for all degree programs incorporating active and experiential learning.

Verma is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and MS (Engineering) from the University of Utah. Having published over 75 articles in prestigious academic journals, he is an eminent figure in the global education industry. He is a recipient of several awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Production and Operations Management Society’s College of Service Operations.
