Sweena Pannu appointed as County Judge by California Governor

An Indian American is one of the 27 Superior Court Judges for the state

The Governor of the California State, Gavin Newsom has chosen an Indian American attorney Sweena Pannu as a Judge in the Stanislaus County Superior Court. She has been an Attorney at M L Sarin from 1996 to 2004. For more than a decade, Attorney Pannu practiced as a Deputy Public Defender at the County’s Public Defender’s Office. She has served as a Deputy County Counsel, since 2020, in the Stanislaus County Counsel’s Office.

Pannu was recently appointed by the Governor, as part of the announcement of 27 Superior Court Judges for the state of California. As a Stanislaus County judge, she will step in to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the county’s Judge Thomas D. Zeff.

Pannu, an India-born attorney graduated from Punjab University and received a Master of Laws degree from the University of Aberdeen School of Law, Scotland, UK.
