The US Energy Workforce and Technology Council elected Indian-origin business leaders, president and CEO of ChampionX, Sivasankaran ‘Soma’ Somasundaram, managing director and global co-head of Energy & Power Investment Banking of Piper Sandler, Sanjiv Shah, and president of Universal Pressure Pumping, Akshay Sagar to the advisory board for the year 2023-2024.
Recipient of the most admired CEO by the Houston Business Journal in 2022, . He has been at the forefront in leadership roles since the firm separated from Dover Corporation (“Dover”) in 2018 and through its transformational merger in 2020. A mechanical engineer from Anna University with a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Oklahoma, Somasundaram, serves on ChampionX’s Board of Directors.
Shah joined Piper Sandler’s energy and power investment banking group in 2008 as an analyst. He was presented with the Industry Innovator Award by PESA in 2019. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree with honours in economics from the University of Manchester.
Sagar who joined the company in 2020 was previously the president and senior vice president at Patterson-UTI Energy in Houston, Texas. IIT Delhi and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University alumnus. He has expertise in oilfield services and drilling rig operations with financial responsibility across multiple product lines, according to his profile.
The executives elected for a three-year-term will be playing a critical role in guiding the association and the energy services and technology sector as the industry continues to meet growing global demand and provide affordable, reliable energy across the country and around the world.
