Diljit Dosanjh becomes first Punjabi singer to perform at Coachella

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh debuted on Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California and created history of sorts. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly called the Coachella Festival or simply Coachella) is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in Colorado desert. It was co-founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999, and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Presents.  The event features musical artists from several genres of music including rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electronic dance music. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music.

Diljit set the stage on fire with a complete Punjabi vibe by wearing a black kurta and tamba. He added swag to the look with a black turban, sunglasses, and even a pair of yellow gloves.

Fans reacted with tons of love for the singer expressing how he made India proud. Bollywood celebs congratulated the singer via their Instagram to narrate the moment of happiness and joy they felt after Diljit’s performance.

Fans of the singer were also proud of him as they dropped heartfelt comments on the posts. “Historic night in California and proud, inspiring, moment for Punjab and the entire diaspora worldwide,” wrote a fan. “Punjabi artist exhibiting Punjabi culture & bringing pride to our pagh (turban) – nothing better,” commented another. “This means so much to so many. Truly brings tears to the eyes. A God-gifted moment,” read another comment.

The first ever Punjabi singer to perform at Coachella is known for his songs like ‘Do You Know’ ‘G.O.AT’ and ‘Patiala Peg’.
