‘The Kashmir Files’ light up screens at Times Square on Republic Day

A rousing felicitation was given to the movie THE KASHMIR FILES on the 73rd Republic Day of India at the world’s most important venue. Times Square in New York was lit with the poster of the most talked about film in recent times. Made by Vivek Agnihotri, the film recently completed a historic pre-release road show in 15 cities across the US.

Organized by Dr Surinder Kaul of Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora and Sunil Hali with support from hundreds of volunteers, the film presents the genocide of 1990 when about half a million Kashmiri Pandits were thrown out of their motherland.

The film is due to release soon all over the world. It is produced by ZEE STUDIOS and IAMBUDHHA Films, with exceptional performances by Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others who have lived their characters. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film also Darshan Kumaar and Chinmay Mandlekar.

The road show, which included talks with policymakers, students and theatrical screening was funded through charitable support from NRIs including Mohan Warikoo, Rajeev Kaul, Dr Nirmal Mattoo, Anil Mattoo among others. It was a full-house in every city.
