From Los Angeles to Mumbai, big stars celebrate Diwali with tradition and style

Celebrating the festivities of Diwali, on Thursday, several B-town celebs took to their social media handles and shared wishes commemorating the festival of lights. Taapsee Pannu shared a picture of her along with her mother and sister. In the caption she wrote, “Let the Lakshmi Puja beginnnnnnn 🙂 HAPPY DIWALI.”

Abhishek Bachchan too shared an Insta post that had a small note. It read, “Aap sabhi ko diwali ki haardik shubhkamnaye.”

Ishaan Khatter shared a photo collage that featured pictures of him with brother Shahid Kapoor and sister-in-law Mira Rajput. “Happy Diwali,” he wrote, in the caption.

Arjun Rampal celebrated Diwali by visiting the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir with his close friends and family. Sharing pictures from his visit on Instagram, Arjun, in the caption wrote, “Happy Diwali everyone. Lots of love, peace and prosperity. Had a beautiful Dharshan at the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Blessed by the wonderful Sadhu Prabuddhmunidas. #happydiwali #closefriends and #family #instafamily”

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar shared a photo of him and along with it wrote, “May the divine light of Diwali shine with peace, prosperity, happiness and good health in your life. #HappyDiwali. Deepawali ki Haardik Shubhkamnaye.”

Here is a look at how some of the biggest names marked the Festival of Lights:

Priyanka Chopra

Despite living away from India, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas never leaves a chance to keep her traditional values alive. Her recent Diwali Puja celebrations at her home in Los Angeles is proof of the fact.

Taking to Instagram, Priyanka, on Diwali night, shared a string of images, in which she along with her husband Nick Jonas can be seen performing Lakshmi puja.

“With the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi we invite Her grace and abundance into our home. Happy Diwali,” she captioned the post.

For the occasion, the two chose to wear ethnic. While Priyanka wore a yellow saree, Nick was dressed up in an embroidered white kurta.

The glimpse of Priyanka and Nick’s Diwali puja was a feast for the eyes. Many even praised Priyanka for celebrating Indian culture across the world.

The Bachchans

Thanks to Shweta Bachchan for giving us a glimpse of Bachchan parivar’s Diwali celebrations at Jalsa. On Friday, Shweta took to Instagram and posted an adorable family photograph that features her sharing smiles with none other than Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.

In the image, Shweta can be seen leaning on her father’s shoulder, while Jaya Bachchan was leaning on Abhishek’s shoulder. Speaking of their Diwali outfits, all four were dressed up in ethnic.

Abhishek opted for a pink kurta while Shweta is seen clad in red. Big B wore a white kurta and Jaya opted for a yellow saree this Diwali.

She captioned the family portrait as, “pod.”

The Kapoors

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor hosted a grand Diwali celebration party at his Mumbai residence for friends and family on Thursday. The event was attended by B-town celebs including Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Janhvi Kapoor, among others.

Arjun Kapoor arrived at the party wearing an all-black ethnic attire, along with his girlfriend, Malaika Arora, who looked sizzling hot in a pink saree. Anil’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor was also part of the celebrations. He wore a black hoodie paired with grey jeans. Meanwhile, Rhea Kapoor was seen at the Diwali party. This was her first Diwali post-wedding.

The Devgns

Star couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol celebrated Diwali with great fervour with close family members –including Kajol’s mother Tanuja and sister Tanishaa Mukerji.

Kajol, Ajay, and Tanishaa have taken to their respective Instagram handles to share pictures from their Diwali celebrations. In one of the images, Kajol and Ajay can be seen happily posing with Tanuja, Tanishaa and their son Yug. The particular image was uploaded by Tanishaa. “Diwali dinner with fam,” she captioned the post.

Kajol shared the same image and dropped a string of red heart emojis on it.

Kajol and Ajay’s daughter Nysa Devgn was not part of the festivities as she is studying abroad.

Alia Bhatt

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt on Thursday shared Diwali greeting on her social media along with some ‘light’ and ‘love’.

Alia took to her Instagram handle and shared two Diwali posts. The first post had three pictures of her dressed in purple ethnic attire. It had the caption, “Some light… Happy Diwali.”

The second post featured her along with rumoured boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. In the picture, the duo can be seen in an embrace gazing deeply into each other’s eyes. “& some love .. Happy Diwali,” read the post’s caption. For the occasion, Ranbir was dressed in a black kurta.

Deepika Padukone

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone greeted her social media fans and followers on Diwali by sharing pictures of her.

Deepika took to her Instagram handle and shared a couple of pictures of her in which she could be seen dressed in pink ethnic attire. Along with the pictures, she wished everyone on the occasion of Diwali by writing, “May this year be filled with light, good health and prosperity! Happy Diwali!”

The post which garnered more than 3 lakh like had numerous comments on it, but what caught the eyeballs was her husband Ranveer Sing’s comment, who wrote, “Baby baby baby.”

The Johars

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, on Thursday, shared pictures of him with his family and along with it wished fans on the occasion of the auspicious festival.

Johar took to his Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures featuring him, his mother Hiroo Johar and two children Roohi and Yash Johar. In the caption, he wished everyone by penning, “Happy Diwali and all our love to all of you …. May the season bring you all the love, laughter, good health and peace of mind …. have a blessed new year.” The Diwali post from the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director garnered more than a lakh likes, with several celebs commenting on it. Neetu Kapoor, Tahira Kashyap, Angad Bedi, Twinkle Khanna were among several others who left heart emojis.
