With the Support of the Brooklyn Borough President’s office, Milan Cultural Association Inc & ISKCON organized a spectacular event, Diwali, celebrating the festival of lights with Devotion and love. Diwali also called Deepavali is celebration of Festival of Lights. The purpose of the event is to celebrate this auspicious colorful Hindu holiday at the great monumental steps of Borough Hall with leaders of the community and esteemed guests.
The event was attended by top community leaders, musically talented vocal and instrumental artists and Dancers and general audiences including attendees who were attracted by colorful and musical performances of rich cultural exhibitions of Indian Tradition.
Mr. Dilip Chauhan, Executive Director of South Asian Affairs of the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office flagged off the start of the program. The program opened with a welcome note from Dr Sheetal Desai, President of Milan Cultural Association-NY chapter to invite the audience with Co-host Ms Jaya Radhe from ISKCON and began with divine Kirtan by ISKCON Devotees and Miss Jaya Radhe saying a few words about Diwali and celebration history and also invited chanting of Hare Krishna and Hare Rama.
A warm welcome was given to Eric Adams with a garland. Eric Adams thanked Dr Sheetal Desai for inviting and commended the host organizations Milan & ISKCON and encouraged them to maintain the roots of this deep Indian culture in the efforts of maintaining the culture and heritage in the land of opportunities.
The Traditional Lamp Lighting was done by Eric Adams, Dilip Chauhan, Hans Rupa Das, President ISKCON, Dr Sheetal Desai, Suresh Sharma, Founder Milan Cultural Association.
Eric Adams, along with Mr Dilip Chauhan Gave honored citations awards to community Leaders & Community achievers.
The program was attended by community leaders and media promoters, including Sunil Hali from Radio Zindagi, Ragini and Sharad from Mana TV and Harkirat Ahluwalia from Jus TV.
