Celebrating 25 years to Bollywood’s iconic film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ), the distributors re-released the film across the world on Thursday. Confirming the announcement, Nelson D’Souza, Associate Vice President – International Distribution said, “DDLJ is a film that made people fall in love and has constantly won hearts whenever it has been screened across the world. On its special 25th anniversary, we are very happy to announce that we are re-releasing ‘DDLJ’ so that audiences can celebrate this cult classic.” “Audiences all over the world will get a chance to watch the film once again on the big screen as we are planning the re-release in several key diasporas and non-diaspora global markets,” D’Souza added.

The film will be re-released across Germany, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, USA, UK, Canada, Mauritius, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia, and Finland to begin with.

Written and helmed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol went on to become the longest-running Hindi film of all time. Besides SRK, the movie also starred Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Mandira Bedi, Satish Shah, Himani Shivpuri among many others.

As the film clocks 25 years on the horizon of Indian cinema, to commemorate the occasion, SRK has changed his Twitter profile to his famous character in the movie – Raj Malhotra. The 54-year-old star has also changed his profile picture to Raj from DDLJ. In the profile picture, SRK is seen sporting the iconic leather jacket, with a brown shirt and a black hat adorned with feathers, as he smilingly poses for the lens.

Reminiscing about the DDLJ shooting days, Shah Rukh Khan got nostalgic and posted — a special clip both on his Instagram and Twitter profiles — some memorable glimpses from the classic hit. Expressing gratitude to his fans over achieving the landmark, and on the silver jubilee anniversary of the film, SRK noted, “25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special. #DDLJ25@yrf.”

On the occasion, actor Kajol penned a note of thanks to all her fans for showering their love to the cinematic marvel throughout the years. Taking to her Instagram handle, Kajol shared the iconic train sequence from the 90’s blockbuster movie co-starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The scene comes when Bauji (Amrish Puri- played Simran’s father) finally realises Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran’s (Kajol) love; he couldn’t help himself and utters the famous dialogue, ‘Jaa Simran Jaa, jeele apni zindagi’. Simran runs to catch the train and boards it after Raj extends his hand to help her get on to it.

Sharing the iconic scene, Kajol wrote, “Simran caught the train 26 years back and we are still thanking everyone for all this love.”

As the theatres reopened in Maharashtra after almost eight months of being shut following the COVID-19 outbreak, the fans will be able to witness SRK-Kajol’s iconic chemistry on the big screen again as DDLJ is all set to return to the cinema halls.

According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Aditya Chopra directorial will start playing at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre from Friday. “#DDLJ BACK IN CINEMAS… As theatres reopen in #Maharashtra, #AdityaChopra’s iconic film #DDLJ – starring #SRK and #Kajol – will start playing at #MarathaMandir [#Mumbai] *again* from TODAY,” tweeted Adarsh.

“The longest-running and one of the most successful #Hindi films of all time,” his tweet further read. Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir cinemas had run the iconic film for over 20 years after its release in 1995. ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ team last month celebrated 25 years of the release of the film.

Meanwhile, the ‘Chhalaang,’ actors Rajkummar Rao and Nushrratt Bharuccha were on Monday seen enjoying their own ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,’ (DDLJ) moment as they recreated an iconic scene from the film. The ‘Dream Girl,’ actor posted a video of herself and Rao where the duo is seen enacting Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran (Kajol) from the famous mustard field scene of ‘DDLJ.’ As the video begins, Bharuccha is seen standing in the middle of a mustard farm calling out, “Raj,” following which Rao whose back is facing the camera is seen calling out “Simran.”
