FIA Chicago’s India Republic Day will go virtual this year

Popular singer Kailash Kher from India will perform at the celebration; Illinois Guv, others will participate. 

Federation of Indian Association of Chicago (FIA-Chicago) is all geared up to celebrate India’s 72nd Republic Day on January 24  with a special performance by  Legendary Bollywood Singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher.  The event will take place in a virtual mode via zoom.

Founder President of FIA-Chicago Sunil Shah said: “Even though Covid-19 is still here, it is not going to put a stop on celebrating our motherland’s Republic Day in grand style.” He also said that to sparkle FIA’s yearly tradition, it has invited famous Bollywood singer Kailash Kher known for his playback, rock, and sufi songs. 

FIA President Dr Kamal Patel said: “This first event of the year, FIA’s Republic Day Program, will definitely warm up the hearts of our audience, and will give us hope! Having battled with Covid-19, people want to find ways to come together and enjoy!” 

Other dignitaries for the event include,  Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker, US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, State Senator Christina Castro, and Consul General of India Amit Kumar. 

Past President FIA Gurmeet Dhalwan expressed hope for a successful event, with wider reach this time since the program will be virtual.

FIA Chicago is a non-profit umbrella organization of other Indian Associations in the Chicagoland and the Midwest, representing over 300,000 culturally diverse Asian Indians.
