India’s top anti-terror agency has asked China for help in a big terror case. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) wants details on a GoPro camera used by killers in the deadly Pahalgam attack.
The attack happened on April 22, 2025, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam area. Terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Baisaran Valley. They fired guns at visitors enjoying the green meadows near pine forests. This was the worst attack on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai blasts. It shocked the nation and led to strong action from India, including strikes on terror hideouts in Pakistan.
NIA teams found many items at the site, like phones and guns. But the key find was a GoPro Hero 12 Black camera with serial number C3501325471706. Probe shows terrorists used it to scout the area before the attack. The camera helped track their moves and plans.
NIA first asked GoPro’s Dutch office for info. They said the device went to AE Group International Limited in China. It was turned on January 30, 2024, in Dongguan city. But no details on who bought or used it next.
A special NIA court in Jammu approved a Letter Rogatory, for a formal request to China’s courts for buyer records and tech data. The court called it vital to link the camera to the plot and find the users.
